KZN College of Nursing — 2026 Diploma in Nursing (NQF Level 6)

The programme runs full time for three years. It follows SANC Regulation R171. It is registered under SAQA ID 115826. The course carries 368 credits.

Who may apply

You must be a South African citizen. You must provide proof of a KwaZulu Natal address or an affidavit. You must pass a medical fitness check for nursing studies. Preference is given to KZN residents.

Entry requirements if you matriculated before 2008

• Standard Certificate or Grade 12 with at least 25 points
• English at E level or D level
• Biology, Physical Science or Physiology at E or D level
• Mathematics at E or D level

Entry requirements if you matriculated in 2008 or later

• National Senior Certificate with a Diploma pass or higher
• Minimum 25 APS points
• English at Level 4 for Home Language or First Additional Language
• If English is not your home language, Home Language at Level 3
• Mathematics Level 3 or Mathematical Literacy Level 5
• Life or Physical Sciences at Level 4
• Life Orientation not scored
• Any two other approved subjects to meet the APS total

Required documents for application

• Certified copy of your ID document
• Certified copy of your highest school certificate
• Proof of residence in KZN or an affidavit
• Medical clearance or medical report for fitness to study nursing

The application closing date is 31 August 2025. Meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee selection. Only shortlisted applicants progress to the next stage.
